Timokap is the composite of Timolol Maleate Eye Drop which is used to treat hypertension. Timolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta-blockers. This medication is used to treat high pressure inside the eye due to glaucoma or other eye diseases such as ocular hypertension. It lowers the pressure in the eye by decreasing the production of fluid and helps to prevent blindness. It works by decreasing the amount of fluid within the eye.
Timolol Maleate Eye Drop should be instilled 1 drop in the eyes, use twice. Take it daily and do not skip any of the doses for better treatment. Talk to the doctor before using it and wait for 15 minutes to allow it to inhale properly in the eyes.

Can I wear contact lenses while using this medicine?
No, you are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using this composition as it contains benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that causes a colour change in contact lenses as it may be absorbed by soft contact lenses. Benzalkonium chloride also causes irritation in the eye especially if you have disorders of cornea (transparent layer at the front of the eye) or dry eyes. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before applying this eye drop and reinsert after 15 minutes of using it. Should I stop using this eye drop before surgery?
