This medicine belongs to the class of medications called ‘antibiotics’ used to treat bacterial infections due to harmful bacteria in our body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals that are called toxins that damage tissue.
This medicine is a combination of two drugs: Cefepime & Tazobactam to treat and prevent bacterial infections in the different body parts. Cefepime comes under the class of antibiotics that works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Tazobactum is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate cefepime.
